Who do I sign long term? Will Help in Return!

Postby drnick5 » Wed Mar 24, 2010 11:32 am

Another fantasy season is upon us, time for some keeper questions!

our league uses Head 2 head scoring, auction style draft with an $80 dollar cap, min roster of 23 players max roster of 27 players (10 team league)

Catagories tracked are:
AVG,HR,KO,OPS,R,RBI, SB-CS (for hitters)
BAA,ERA,K/9,Net saves plus holds, QS,W-L,WHIP (for pitchers)

after the auction, we are allowed to assign a contract from 1-5 years to any player we just acquired at the auction. we expanded the league from 8 teams to 10 (so we had 2 teams with the full $80 to spend) so a few salaries are higher then I wanted them to be..

Batters:
R. Cano $6.00
B. Zoberist $6.00
C. Figgins $0.50
Carlos Lee $4.00
K. Blanks $1.00

Pitchers:
M. Cain $7.00
J. Happ $0.50
J. Sanchez $0.50
J. Vasquez $7.00
A. Wainright $9.00
R. wolf $1.50
A. chapman $5.00
T. hoffman $0.50
B. wilson $0.50
D. Bard $0.50

any help is most appreciated, as always, post a link and I will help in return!

Did you say how much $$$ left in future

My fav players here are Wainwright and Zorbist. Overpaid on Chapman I think.
Cano and Wilson make sense at price too.

What happens if they suck? Can you ditch them and just eat the contract value? Because some of those are very decent values, especially the pitchers. Wilson, Bard, Sanchez, Happ. Blanks isn't bad, either, considering the power he could give you now and for years to come. They won't all pan out, and I wouldn't go five years on the relievers, but the risk seems pretty minimal. (But then I've never been in a league like this, so take the advice with a grain of salt.)

I would sign Happ long term. I could also see either Cano or Figgnins
