We have another last minute new opening available. Please check the last followup post (or the included link) for the available team/roster after looking thru the details of our league setup, etc. below.
If you're looking for a good, new challenge w/ a different setup than usual, this might be right up your alley.
The league is a free, points league run on Yahoo and uses (sabermetrics-oriented) Extrapolated Runs for offense, which is similar to Bill James' original Runs Created, and a variation on IP - R for pitching, which is a basic take on runs prevention (w/ some bonuses/penalties for wins, losses, saves, holds, blown saves and such). This points system is designed to model more closely to real life results (unlike standard Roto and most other points leagues) and has proven to yield excellent, tight races w/ well balanced results for 6 straight seasons now (and one more in a non-keeper before that). Rules are generally kept as simple (and sensible and consistent) as possible.
We do not use salaries, but keepability status is simply based on real life contract/FA status, eg. Holliday, Jason Bay, Vlad Guerrero, et al. are FAs this year (and you can find pretty much all the noteworthy veteran FAs listed at places like the ESPN FA Tracker). And MLB-ready prospects join the FA pool as they show up in Yahoo, eg. Strasburg, Heyward, Smoak, Aroldis Chapman, Pedro Alvarez, Mike Stanton, Jesus Montero, et al. are all in the FA pool to start this year.
We'll soon begin our annual FA draft off the updated FA pool in order to fill whatever empty roster spots in our 25-man rosters -- and we use a relatively unique approach to the annual FA draft process that helps teams w/ less talent get competitive more quickly while also adding a bit more strategy to it than usual. For instance, Senor Smoke -- one of the currently available teams -- will have the first 3 picks of this draft and 4 of the next 8 after that (for a total of 7 out of the first 11 picks).
Note that you may also find the points system and lineup positions help teams rebuild and become competitive again more quickly since it depends less on certain traditional stats that tend to work against less proven players who may not bat in premium lineup spots or pitch on top teams.
For the complete rules and setup, check this link:
Again, please note that our league setup is a fair bit different from the usual, so don't judge the quality of players in the available team rosters w/out getting familiar w/ the setup and rules first. For instance, speed/SBs are nowhere near as important here as in standard ROTO leagues -- and we do not care about batting Rs and RBIs at all or pitching Ks (although those stats might provide helpful, indirect indicators of expected performance). And again, keepability is based on real life contract years and FA status. And there are other nuances to consider as well, so please do check out the entire setup and rules...
Thanks for your interest...

And we're doing our player drops now for the upcoming annual FA Draft Process -- the "slow" draft will likely start either Sunday evening or Monday to be concluded w/ the "live" draft either next Friday night (4/2) or sometime next Saturday (4/3).
I am currently on Yahoo IM (and should be for much of tonight), so please feel free to contact me there (or via email or PM), if you have questions. Thanks.
And if it helps any, here are the Yahoo settings at a glance (though this does not provide all the details about the league of course):

Just completed the player drops portion of the FA Draft Process w/ draft order now set. The "slow" draft will likely start some time tomorrow (Monday).
FYI, Senor Smoke -- one of the currently available weaker teams -- will have the first 3 picks followed by 4 of the next 8 after that (for a total of 7 of the first 11 picks), etc.
As mentioned above, noteworthy veteran FAs in the draft pool includes Holliday, Jason Bay, Vlad Guerrero, John Lackey, et al. plus some MLB-ready prospects showing up in Yahoo for the first time, eg. Strasburg, Heyward, Smoak, Chapman, Alvarez, Stanton, J Montero, et al.
If interested, let me know asap via PM, email or Yahoo IM.
Thanks again...

And we've just about completed our annual FA draft process -- although there's still a little bit of time for new/replacement owners to amend picks w/ the remaining available FA pool, which still includes some interesting veterans and prospects, before we open the league up for normal add/drops.
If interested, you can find the post-draft updated rosters at this link (w/ the vacant teams stickied and labeled as needing new owners):
So let me know asap (via PM, email, YIM, etc), if interested. In fact, if interested, you should also register for an account on that proboards site to expedite joining the league.
Thanks for your interest...
