I recently drafted my team in a brand new keeper league. It was an auction draft, and I'll admit I made some mistakes during the draft but who doesn't.
12 team, H2H, 5X5 scoring, keep any 5
C - Brian McCann 1B - Mark Teixeira, Adam Dunn (also OF) Todd Helton 2B - Brandon Phillips 3B - Mark Reynolds (also 1B) Michael Young, Adrian Beltre SS - Derek Jeter, Rafael Furcal OF - Ryan Braun, Raul Ibanez, Nyjer Morgan, Carlos Quentin SP - AJ Burnett, James Shields, Randy Wolf, Brandon Webb, Tim Hudson, Brian Matusz RP - Chad Qualls, Brad Lidge, Phil Hughes
C - B. McCann, Santana 1B - Teixeira, Dunn (OF), 2B - B. Phillips 3B - Reynolds (1B), M. Young, SS - Jeter, OF - Braun, Quentin, C. Young SP - Webb, Burnett, Shields, Hudson, Pelfrey, Hughes, Morrow, E. Jackson, B. Myers RP - Lidge, Qualls, Rauch
My first reaction is kinda blah in the fact that this is a keeper league. Kinda an aged team, but that's okay, let's focus on this year. Your pitching is pretty feeble. You need to find a way to land yourself a solid starter or two, because I'm not a fan of your top 2 starters having with K/BB's trending in the wrong way, and the fact that both pitch in a tough division. A Webb bounceback and the further development of Brian Matusz could help you a lot, but I would want a reliable ace to anchor that staff.
Couldn't agree more, like I said I made some mistakes in the draft and I think I was a little too stingy when bidding for SP. Any players on my roster potential trade bait? I have some solid 3B, although Reynolds is likely the only interest for anyone in a keeper. Like I said we only keep 5 so an older team isn't a huge problem as we redraft a large majority of the team every year...as long as those older guys hold their own this year.
