Who to Draft? - WHIR!

Postby MrAccoe » Mon Mar 22, 2010 3:20 pm

So it's a 7 team keeper and I've decided to keep the following:

A-Rod, Kemp, Holliday, Sizemore, Greinke, Butler, Soria

My pick is the 5th pick in the 1st (8th) round. Best available hitters available:

1) Votto 1b
2) V Martinez C
3) Aaron Hill 2b
4) Shin-Soo Choo OF
5) Derrek Lee 1b
6) Figgins 3b (eventually 2b)

Best Pitchers:

1) Gallardo
2) Beckett
3) Vazquez
4) Kershaw
5) Hanson

I would much rather draft a pitcher out of those 5 with my first pick of the draft, but should I pass up Votto, VMart or Hill if they slip past the first 4 picks? Also, is Figgins worth drafting above those pitchers since he's going to be playing 2b this year?

Thanks for the help

With Butler kept, do you have a spot for Votto at CI or DH? If so, that would be my choice. If you want to go pitcher, either Hanson or Gallardo would be my choice.

1) Votto 1b

1) Gallardo
3) Aaron Hill 2b
4) Kershaw
5) Hanson

Votto is much better than anyone else available. After that, the 3 pitchers I have and Hill are close. I'd rather take Hill and get the leftovers with my next pick.

If Votto isn't picked, I'd definitely go with him in my UTIL spot. Then I can take my pick of the next tier of SP's amongst Baker, Nolasco, etc... though I have a feeling that Votto will be gone since #2 pick kept 4 SP's and no 1b.

But if comes down to Votto and Gallardo, I'd be hard pressed not to take Gallardo.

With Butler, I'd def go with one of those pitchers. too many top notch 1B's in this draft. I'd rank them:

Gallardo
Kershaw
Hanson
Beckett

Votto is a no doubter. I really like Hanson and Gallardo too.

Kershaw above Gallardo, Hanson and Beckett?

I know his sub 3.00 era was nice last year but those 8 wins are not too impressive. I know that you can't project wins and all that, but his inability to go deep into games does effect his win probability.

Gallardo wasn't that great last year either and his walk rate was quite high.

I'm actually leaning towards:

Hanson
Gallardo
Beckett
Kershaw

Thoughts?
