Will Josh Hamilton return to 1st Round Production?

Postby Nyger Morgan MD » Mon Mar 22, 2010 2:38 pm

Does he have the kind of year a former 1st overall pick is capable of? He obviously has all the talent in the world and has been crushing the ball in spring training. Is he worth taking as a 16th round keeper over over Quentin as a 25th round keeper in the last year of our keeper league? Or do you go with the two years left of the unproven but less of an injury risk Mccutchen as a 25th round keeper? Thoughts?

I'd take McCutchen with your 25th... the boy's gonna be special.

Hamilton has first round upside, but you can't rule out a few missed games from him either, based off his injury history too. Plus, his 2008 year was considered a first round campaign, mainly because of his inflated RBI total, which varies from year to year.

Who else are you considering keeping? Quentin on a discount is better potential value than Hamilton, FWIW, and McCutchen is worth a shout, but again, depends on who else you're considering.

Considering how they all get drafted around the same area, I'd take McCutchen when you have him for 2 more years and he's not such an injury risk like the other two, plus he's really cheap. All good things to me. ;-D
