12 team H2h Mixed League $1000 cap and draft 24 players - 9 pitchers (7 starters and 2 closers) and 15 position players (10 Infielders and 5 Outfield)
Scoring: Basically WINS and K's Pitchers - 10 pts a win, -5 a loss, 1 per K , 5 pts for CG, 5 pts for Shutout --- NO ERA, WHIP etc.
Which is the best Keeper Pitcher ? Hamels has been kept for 3 years and would go up to $75 in 2011 -- the other two would go up $10/year for next 3 seasons and then $25 in 4th season as keeper.
Hamels ($50) -- (278 pts. in 2009) - 26 yrs old -bounce back possible / Phils should get him WINS. Kershaw ($45) -(273 pts. in 2009)- 21 years old with high Ks but not gone deep into games. Baker ($20) - (325 pts. in 2009) Twins #1 - Twins lineup / Bullpen makes him prime for 15 wins ?
Most expensive 2009 Pitchers from my auction: Webb ($115), Sabathia ($110), Peavy ($105), Beckett ($105), Halladay ($105).
I'd go Kershaw here. I love Hamels (obv obv) and feel he's primed for a bounceback but even so, Kershaw looks to continue to improve and is significantly younger and will be a cheaper keeper in years to come. I just don't see Hamels being $20 better than Kershaw in '11 (if I'm reading your settings right).
Hal·la·day, n. 1. every fifth day in Philadelphia. 2. a day of rest for the bullpen. 3. innings eater. 4. doc. 5. ace.
I'd go Kershaw here as well. He might not be an innings eater, but I see him having the most upside out of the three you mentioned. Kershaw is still young enough that he might be focusing more on striking people out rather than lasting deep into the frames, giving hope that maybe he can figure out the best of both worlds with more experience.
I don't like hammels, and while I see him as coming back, I don't see him bouncing back completely.
Now that nathan is out, I would stay away from Baker. There are a lot of questions in that Twins bullpen now.
