Dynasty Trade, Big, need help please

Postby brakeyawself » Sat Mar 20, 2010 8:32 pm

16 team h2h dynasty league. Start C, 1b, 2b,3b,ss,rf,lf,cf,util, util. SP, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, RP, RP, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL, DL

Scoring: Batters Stat Categories: Runs (R), Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Walks (BB), Strikeouts (K), Batting Average (AVG)
Pitchers Stat Categories: Wins (W), Losses (L), Saves (SV), Strikeouts (K), Holds (HLD), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP)

My Team.

C Brian McCann
1b Billy Butler
2b Chase Utley
SS Evreth Cabrera
3b Ian Stewart (2b, 3b)
LF Matt Holliday
CF Adam Jones
RF Brad Hawpe
UTI Paul Konerko (1B)
UTI Jorge Cantu (1B, 3B)
bench
Travis Snider (LF)
Dexter Fowler (CF)
Fernando Martinez (LF,CF,RF)
Edwin Encarnacion (3b)
Reid Brignac (SS)
SP Gallardo
SP Billingsley
SP Webb
SP T. Cahill
RP Soriano
RP D. Bard
RP R. Perry
RP B. Morrow
P Phill Hughes
P B Arroyo

The Trade Issues.
I give Matt Holliday, Konerko, EEncarnacion, Hawpe for Justin Upton, J Soria, Juan Rivera(LF), and Ian Desmond.

Im scared to give up matt holliday in this a I think hes in for a huge year. But Upton probably isnt far behind him, this would leave me with only Travis Snider as my other LF. But I do get a good Closer in the deal, and Desmond has some upside...I think. Rivera and Hawpe seem about the samer

My SS are Evreth Cabrera and Brignac so Desmond would help if he sticks. Also , hes mainly looking for a 1B and I could give him Butler for his Markakis probably without losing Holliday. That however would leave me only Konerko and Cantu at 1st for now and the future.

any ideas? Holliday in too safe a situation to let go in this?

I pass on this offer. You need a close but you can find one if you are sharp on the wire.Honestly I had Soria and B. Wilson at the draft last year. Soria started on the DL. I fell behind fast in saves . I was also losing ground in my pitching catagories. So when Soria came back I trade both my closers and up graded my starting pitching. I traded Buehrle and Bay for Vazquez and Markakis. Another trade here and there and I ended up winning my league by 8 points. I had a total of 11 saves. Dead last.My offense and my pitching carried my team. 12 team mixed standard 5x5. I say hang in there . See where you are weak and make a trade later .

In my opnion, I would be inclined to take it. Yes holliday is better than upton, but by how much? You only have 1 rp that can save (soriano) and in a 16 team league, saves are hard to find at times. I think youll be a little bit more well rounded with this trade.

Good point. I didn't see the 16 team part. But I'm still not sure I would do the trade this early.

I'd take it for the reasons already mentioned, and because the league is dynasty, yeah? Upton isn't just good now . . . he's getting better. You won't lose that much this season, and it could help you a LOT in the long run.

I'd take this. Any chance to get Upton in a dynasty without giving up a huge name in return is hard to find.

Matt Holliday < Upton
Konerko < Soria (for me anyway)
EEncarnacion >? Desmond (could be the other way around)
Hawpe = Juan Rivera(LF)

thanks for your help with mine.

I would take this too. In fact, I would almost venture to say that this is close to a no-brainer.

Justin Upton might not be as good as Matt Holliday this season (debatable), but he almost surely will keep improving. I see Upton as a fantasy monster.

Soria might have spent some time on the DL last year, and he might pitch for the Royals. However, he will post strikeouts, he won't blow too many saves, and he will give you a solid ERA. And as someone mentioned earlier, you do need saves. A 16 team league is no walk in the park at finding anything, especially a closer.

Encarnacion is better than Desmond, but in a keeper league I'd rather Desmond.

Hawpe = Rivera. You trade power for steals.

I like this deal for the future. Upton will be a monster and Soria is a very underappreciated closer.
