Beware ESPN: Can't Draft at Secondary Positions

Postby CJV123 » Sat Mar 20, 2010 1:09 pm

We tried ESPN last year, and wanted it to work. But, ESPN's draft software is primitive and does not let you draft players at their secondary position, or move them during the draft. This is a dealbreaker for us. I've spoken with their software team and with Matthew Berry, and they refuse to update this feature. They had other bugs, notably you could make changes in your roster while having a player on "DL" status who was not on the DL in real-life, but Matt told me they would fix this particular bug. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know ESPN is not up to par.

I am not sure that is correct. When you draft a guy it will put him at his primary position, but you can then drag him to another if he qualifies. This is in the Custom League anyway.

We played the Free League with the Custom Settings, and you could not do this. I emailed Berry one month ago, asking him if they were going to fix the situation, and he said "no." What you are describing is a partial fix, and obviously something they "just" did. You still can't draft at secondary positions, if I am reading you right.

Not sure what the problem is... do you have position limits? if that's the case just set the limits after the draft - or is it for aesthetic purposes like seeing who has what positions left? either way ESPN is free... and if it's free, it's for me!
