First 10 rounds done... what are my biggest needs? WHIR

Postby plapre3 » Sat Mar 20, 2010 12:05 pm

The 1st 10 rounds in our draft (14 team keeper league) are out of the way and I'm pretty happy with what I've done so far. I'm hoping to get some feedback on a few things:

1) Good picks/ bad picks
2) Biggest needs/ positions or stats to target

***Please consider team makeup and please review the league setup (bottom of post) carefully, since it skews value of certain types or players a bit. In particular OPS, QS-L, and the fact that we start 5 starters and 3 relievers each week make a big difference. For example, Ryan Dempster and Roy Oswalt are both off the board at this point, so SP is pretty thin.

1 - Hanley Ramirez
2 - Prince Fielder (Traded my second round pick and 11th for his late 1st round and late 12th round pick... not sure why he did it, but I'm happy)
3 - Roy Halladay
4 - Kevin Youkilis
5 - Jon Lester
6 - Shin-Soo Choo
7 - Aaron Hill
8 - Bobby Abreu
9 - Ricky Nolasco
10 - Nate McLouth
11 - (Missing pick)
12 - (Hold 2 12th round picks.)

Offensive Categories: BA, OPS, RBI, HR, SB and Runs Scored. (Start: C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, OF, OF, OF, UTIL)
Pitching Categories: W-L, S, ERA, K/IP, Quality Starts, and WHIP (Start: 5 SP, 3 RP)
6x6 weekly HtH 14 team roto keeper (between 5 and 10 keepers (no time limits or costs), losing a draft pick for each after 5)

You need some more power, which you should be able to find in the later rounds. ;-D

how did you get hanley then fielder , makes no sense, that couldnt be a keeper draft redraft, that must of been a team u had in the past. hanley should of been 2nd pick at least and fielder taken in rd 1 as well

Agreed - you could use some more power. I'd look for some HR/OPS guys. No idea who's left, but guys like Kubel, Ibanez, Hawpe, Cuddyer. You could grab Adam LaRoche late.

Getting Hanley/Fielder at the top is great. Not sure how the previous poster missed it, but you did get Fielder in the 1st (having traded your 2nd). Great trade for you.

I like Hill in the 7th. I don't love the McLouth pick.

With starters going, you may need to invest in another SP sooner rather than later.
