Draft Strategy Question - Go Best Avail or Needs

Money draft later today. 15 team, keeper league (7). I draft 3rd. The liklely available players that i'm targeting Rd1 are:

Ichiro
Votto
Quentin
B. Roberts (injury potential scares me)

On my current roster I have Prince Fielder, but for some reason I want to go Votto because I think he is the best available talent?

Do I go Votto and try to trade him (or fielder), or do I go with what I actually need (and who do you like besto of that bunch?)

Even though I currently have nowhere to start the guy eh? I wish we had a friggen utility spot.

If you have no where to play Votto then I would probably take somebody else. You could always try to trade Votto after the draft but that could be hard to do and most people will know that you have no where to play Votto so probably won't pay full value. Saying that I would then probably go with Ichiro.

That's tough with no utility spot I'd probably go with Ichiro. If you think you could trade either Fielder or Votto for comparable talent I'd take Votto.

I was in your spot a week or two ago...I had Holliday in LF (we start LF/CF/RF) and Quentin was by far the best player available...I took him anyway. That being said, I'm find it difficult to trade Holliday/Quentin away because the other teams know I'm lacking the leverage and would rather give me a hard time. I think Ichiro is a good enough of a talent that I'd go with him unless you think your league is very active trade-wise and you won't have a tough time unloading one of your 1b.
