Deadline is in a few hours. We are allowed 4 keepers, its a head to head weekly points league. Here are the point categories: R (1), 1B (1), 2B (2), 3B (3), HR (4), RBI (1), SB (2), BB (1), IBB (1), IP (2), W (10), CG (5), SV (10), H (-0.5), ER (-1), BB (-0.5), K (1)
I'm keeping Utley, Prince and Kemp for sure. My final keep is between Johan, Markakis and maybe Zobrist. Let me know what you think, will Johan be able to come back from the injury? Is Markakis due to explode? Leave a link and I'll try to help you.
I would take Johan. I don't think he will be back to his old overall #1 SP self but he should be good for a top 10 SP stats. Markakis is what he is, 20HR and 10 SB. Don't expect anything more. Zobrist is intriguing, but I would rather have Santana.

Thanks for the opinions, I'm not surprised to get 3 dif answers. I think I've narrowed it down to johan or zobrist. Zobrist is ss eligible in my league but is he the real deal? He never did it before last year and is 29. Anyone else???
Don't just go with the "hitters over pitchers" approach. This is a flawed system. If the pitcher and hitter are equal value then the hitter is the choice but if the pitcher is better then go with the pitcher. I don't know how many teams this league has so I am going to assume a 10 or 12 team league. With 4 keepers your are looking at the top 40 - 48 players off the board. That is about right where Santana is. He is going around the 5th round and has some upside. He is on the wrong side of 30 but not by much and if you look at past Stud SP they age ok, so I would expect good numbers for him. People have waiting on Vazquez to fall off a cliff but he hasn't nor has Halladay and Santana is in that group of over 30 SP who should continue to have success. Zobrist is not a fluke but there is more question marks with him. I really can't see him having the same kind of year that he did last year. Close but not that good. Which is why is going over a full round later. Keep Santana and you are likely to be able to get Zobrist back in the draft if you so choose.

Agree 100% with the post above. I almost always like keeping a hitter over a pitcher if their relative value is about the same, but dont think thats the case with Zobrist vs Johan. If you've already ruled Markakis out I think you gotta go with Johan. There's a decent chance Zobrist will fall back to you but even if not, I dont think there'd be a pitcher with Johan's potential value with your next pick if you go the other route.
