Offered Jeter for Lester! Advice Please

Postby BaseballYanksfan1 » Fri Mar 19, 2010 1:45 pm

Normally I would jump right on the trade but I see yesterday Jeter may have suffered a hand injury???

I could use a good SS in my order because I ended up with Clint Barmes because I don't see SS as a gotta have position early in drafts!

My pitching is unreal so prob could afford to give up Lester!

here is my team in a 10 team H2H

C Suzuki
1B Howard
2B Pedroia
3B ARam
SS Barmes
OF MRam, Victorino, Ichiro
UT MCab

SP Carpenter, Verlander, Lester, Weaver, Garza, Jackson, De La Rosa, Wolf, Wells, Feldman, Pineiro
RP Bell, Fuentes, Francisco, Gonzalez, Wood

Stats are:

Batters Stat Categories: Runs (R), Hits (H), Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Batting Average (AVG)
Pitchers Stat Categories: Wins (W), Saves (SV), Strikeouts (K), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP), Quality Starts (QS)

Question is: Am I a better team taking a chance Barmes puts up close to same numbers as last year and keeping Lester?

Seems fair enough. I'd much rather trade Carpenter instead of Lester for Jeter, but this is a decent deal. You really don't want to rely on Barmes as your shortstop, just because he's an average liability and could lose his everyday job to Eric Young Jr. if he's mired in an awful slump.

Its fair and works for you as you definitely need to address that SS hole.

Probably would've considered it with Barmes as your SS option, but I wouldn't exactly call your pitching unreal in a 10 teamer. Especially after losing Lester. Verlander could be a one year up one year down type pitcher, and Carpenter is a big injury ?. Jeter aint getting any younger, and with a possible injury could be a red flag. I personally think he'll be fine. Good luck though

thanks...hate giving up a starter who can put the numbers Lester puts up...but when you have a chance to improve your offense like that you have to take it and hope maybe some ww starting pitching will surface from somewhere!

Seemed like an ever rare actual fair trade for both sides. Jeter will help you out alot seeing that you use both Runs and BA in your scoring.

As far as your team I actually think that your offense is actually better than your pitching right now for a 10 team league.

It a fair trade.... If it was the only method of filling SS, you might have to..... I think I would have made a thorough search through league "twice." There may have been cheaper ways to fill hole. Good luck.
