I'm in a 16 team, 5x5 roto league. We all keep 3 players and lose the round they were drafted in (then -3 years for each year kept after 1st year). We start; C, 1B,2B, 3B, SS, 4OF,U,8P (any combo of SP and RP).
I kept; R. Zimmerman (7th round), Votto (13th round), McCutchen (21st round).
Do I go for BAP, do I target a SS or 2B, or do I try to get some stud pitching? I will have the 9th and 17th picks.
Here are the top player at each position; C - Martinez, McCann 1B - Howard, AGon, Morneau, Morales 2B - Pedroia, Phillips, Cano, B. Roberts, Zobrist 3B - Wright, ARam SS - Rollins, Jeter OF - Crawford, Sizemore, Ichiro, Bay, Markakis, Ethier, C. Lee, N. Cruz, Hamilton, Manny, Dunn SP - Sabathia, Haren, Verlander, Wainwright, J. Santana, Beckett, J. Johnson, Vazquez, Jimmenez, Hamels, Wandy, Gallardo RP - Rivera, Broxton, Papelbon, F. Rodriguez, Bell
I'm assuming Howard, Wright, Rollins, Crawford, and Sizemore will be the 1st 5 picks. After that it's a crap shoot, what will be available. So who should I look to acquire with my picks.
In a 16 team league, starting 4 OFs plus 1 UT, I'd probably aim for a BAP OF. Dunn looks good to me at the 9 pick as long as you don't have negative scoring for Ks. Then Makaris.
Thanks for the help. Agree with Fantasysportsmaven. 16 teams wtih 4 OF spots you have to lock down the best OF you can get. I'd use both picks on the best OF you can get, unless Cano or Roberts happen to be available for your second pick.
You could have a shot at either Pedroia or Cano at the 9th pick. If not, I like Cruz or Bay there. With as many fantastic SP options, I'd probably pass on them with the 9th and hope either a Ubaldo or Hamels type slides on by.
Id target hitters (best available) with both picks and would rank those guys;
Howard Wright Crawford Rollins A Gon Martinez Pedroia Cano Sizemore McCann Phillips Morneau Markakis Cruz Bay Ethier Dunn Zobrist Roberts c Lee Jeter Manny Hamilton Ichiro A Ram Morales
