Cuban shortstop Adeiny Hechevarria has signed a $10 million contract with the Blue Jays, according to Melissa Segura of SI.com.
The contract will cover four years, a source tells Jorge Ebro of El Nuevo Herald. If the report is true, Hechevarria will take home more than his countryman Jose Iglesias, who inked an $8.2 million contract with Boston last July. The Yankees were considered the favorite to sign the young shortstop, however he was reportedly weary about the long-term presence of Derek Jeter at the position. However it happened, it's a nice feather in the cap of new general manager Alex Anthopoulos. Mar. 15 - 8:58 am et
