Reverse Labadini?

Postby nalathegreat » Sun Mar 14, 2010 7:14 pm

Is there ANY, ANY grain of salt into drafting all your pitchers before your batters? I read an article a while back that showed this guy who drafted 9 consecutive pitchers in the first 9 rounds and won his league. I realize that many people wait a long time before drafting their first pitcher or pay minimal money for pitchers in auctions (Labadini Plan), but what about the opposite? Im just intrigued by this idea, since it seems to me the difference between Lincecum and the 50th best starter is far greater than between Pujols and the 50th best hitter.

Perhaps someone can tell me the link of that article again?

I did an 8-team mock draft on MDC, and I must say, Im pretty impressed with my team.
C Miguel Montero ARI R17 P7
1B Derrek Lee CHC R11 P7
2B Jose Lopez SEA R14 P2
SS Elvis Andrus TEX R18 P2
3B Ryan Zimmerman WAS R6 P2
3B Adrian Beltre BOS R22 P2
OF Carlos Lee HOU R9 P7
OF Nelson Cruz TEX R10 P2
OF Nyjer Morgan WAS R13 P7
OF Carlos Gonzalez COL R20 P2
OF Julio Borbon TEX R21 P7
OF Nolan Reimold BAL R23 P7
DH Vladimir Guerrero TEX R16 P2
SP Tim Lincecum SF R1 P7
SP Roy Halladay PHI R2 P2
SP Zack Greinke KC R3 P7
SP CC Sabathia NYY R4 P2
SP Dan Haren ARI R5 P7
SP Yovani Gallardo MIL R12 P2
SP Scott Baker MIN R19 P7
RP Mariano Rivera NYY R7 P7
RP Jonathan Broxton LA R8 P2
RP Andrew Bailey OAK R15 P7

In the Projected Standings page, I came in third, behind by 2.5 points. I got a 8 in every pitching category except saves, where I was 6th (and got robbed by some stupid projections). So, anyone think this is a viable drafting strategy? I think it definitely can be, especially if the league is small.
