Bourn vs. Pierre vs. Fowler - Dynasty League

Postby TheNatinals » Sun Mar 14, 2010 4:33 pm

Ok, so somehow I ended up with all three of these speedsters on my team and with Desmond Jennings in my minor league system I cant see a scenario where I play more than one of them at a time. Therefore, I'm going to trade/drop two of the three. Which one would you keep in a 6x5 (ops is the extra category) roto dynasty leage?

Here's my take on each -

Bourn - Doesn't really do anything but steal, but is obviously the best in the NL in his category. Hurts you in everything else except runs.
Pierre - Hasn't had a full season's worth of at bats in a while, but when he was full time last year he was money. Getting a little older.
Fowler - Could be a multi-category stud, but hasn't shown much yet besides speed. I need the SBs now so I can't afford to keep him if he's platooning. Does Jennings make him completely redundant?

I'd keep Pierre. He's the most reliable guy there and he'll get a full season's worth of at-bats. Bourn is not safe and Fowler isn't a full time player.

I'd trade Bourn; he really can't hit, and I think he's going to regress. And people are keeping him higher on draft boards than they should. Sell high.

I'd keep both Pierre/Fowler. Give Fowler a shot in a dynasty league; he's a stud. Not everyone goes Braun.

And play Pierre first. Let's see what Fowler does this year: the platooning talk overrates Smith and UZR small sample sizes, and the Rockies are smarter than I! They damn sure know that.

Only when you need to call up Jennings do you turf aside Pierre, assuming he's still starting then: for you or for the Sox.

PS: Jennings could go to LF/RF, too, so if CF counts, you'll want Dexter 'round for more than his potential.
