Keep him or take the pick?

Postby L-Dawg » Sat Mar 13, 2010 11:12 pm

I'm in an H2H points league, standard scoring. I'm trying to decide whether to keep Aramis Ramirez. Currently, my keepers are as follows:

1B Texiera
2B Pedroia
OF Lind
OF J. Upton
Util Votto
P Halladay

We can keep up to 7 players, but must keep at least 5. If you only keep 5 you get to pick in the 6th and 7th round. Six you pick in the 7th round and if you keep 7 your first pick is round 8 with everyone else. I would have the last pick in the 7th round and first pick in the 8th round.

Arod, Longoria, Reynolds, Zimmerman, Wright, Sandoval are being kept for sure and maybe Youkilis as well. So, I feel pretty compelled to keep him, but just wanted some outside opinions. Be happy to give an opinion on yours if you leave a link. Thanks.

I would keep Aram for that cost, equal to a 7th round pick, thats awesome value for him. Especially considering all of the top 3B will be kept anyways.

I'm looking for somewhere around .300ave 28HR/105RBI/95R, thats good enough to be considered a top 6-7 3B. Also with keeping Aram you only have a SS to worry about in the draft.

help me out...

Pass on Aram at that spot and take the extra pick.

I would keep A-Ram there. if the equivalent is gaining a 7th round pick than I think having A-Ram instead is good value. Especially since you said the elite and second tier third baseman will all be gone.

I'd keep A-Ram, doubt you'll get a much better option in the draft anyway.

ARam is no worse than a 6th rounder (possibly 5th). I definitely keep him in the 7th.

That said, it depends where you pick in the 7th. If you have 1st pick, and you like someone's 8th best player more than ARam, then go for it. But if you're not sure what would drop to you in the 7th, then don't take the risk.
