We are able to keep players 3 rounds above where they were drafted in the previous year. I already have keepers for the 15th - 18th round, so I would have to keep Weeks or Loney as the last pick of the 14th round (pick 168). The only reason they would be decent value is that players from higher rounds will be kept in later rounds.
Should I keep Weeks, Loney, or just take the draft pick?
My Other Keepers Albert Pujols (not a keeper, but I have 1st pick) Joe Mauer (2nd round, pick 24) Justin Upton (11th round, pick 120) Josh Johnson (13th round, pick 145) Edwin Jackson (15th round, pick 169) Huston Street (16th round, pick 192) Brandon Webb (17th round, pick 193) Tommy Hanson (18th round, pick 216)
I have Posada that can be kept in 12th round (pick 144), but I don't plan to since I just traded Gallardo in 8th round for Mauer in 2nd round.
Lopez will be gone by then, Weeks is worth a 14th rounder.
+1 And Cabrera will be taken right after or maybe even ahead of Lopez
I like Prado tho, but not as much as I do Weeks. I'm looking for at least 15/15 (HR/SB) out of Weeks with 70+RBI which is great value for a shallow position in the 14th round. Keep Weeks for sure.
I do have picks in rounds 3 - 10, and round 12. But my fear is that it will be slim pickings at 2B, so I would be hoping to get Phillips or Roberts with pick 48 or 49, or try to get Uggla, Kendrick, Stewart, Cabrera or Weeks later. It's a matter of, is it worth taking the risk of throwing Weeks back in hopes I can get one of the other 6 upgrades? The risk would be that I could end up going to the later rounds without a 2B, then I would have to reach for one, because I do not have a pick for rounds 15 - 18.
2B that should be kept - Hill, Zobrist, Lopez, Cano, Hudson 2B I know won't get to my 3rd pick - Utley, Kinsler (and Pedroia won't make it to my 4th pick, and isn't worth my 25th pick)
