Tips for a shallow league?

Postby btb2007 » Fri Mar 12, 2010 8:39 am

I've joined an 8-team 6 x 5 mixed league h2h league in which you start C,1B,2B,3B,SS,LF,CF,RF, and 2 U on offense. XBH is the extra category on offense. There is also an 8-start cap per week on starting pitchers. I'm curious what you all think a good draft strategy would be. Should I go after some of the elite pitchers earlier than normal? Or should I take positional scarcity even more into account so that I've got top guys at every position?
10-team mixed h2h points league. Scoring: 1B=1 pt, 2B=2, 3B=3, HR=4, RBI=1, R=1, BB=1, SB=2, HBP=1; W=6, QS=4, IP=2, K=1, BB= -0.5, H= -0.5, ER= -1, HBP= -0.5, CG=5, SO=5, SAVE=8

I have never been in a league with less than 12. But it is easy to see that there will be great talent left after the draft. And in H2H the need for the best talent at each position is not vital as you basically are buoyed by streaks.

The one thing you really need, tho, is consistent success from your SPs and saves. Personally, I would snag the best Ps available at the times you think is best to grab one. I guess I am inclined to go elite pitchers earlier. As the draft wears on there will be very good options on offense.

I don't think I would go pitching in the 1st round, tho. Probably not the first two, either. THEN grab those chuckers.
My Friendliness bar...recently shrunk from 11.3 to 10mm long!!
