12 team H2H points league. Just finished the draft. Thoughts?

C- Victor Martinez
1b - Todd Helton
2b - Felipe Lopez
3b - Miguel Tejada
SS - Derek Jeter
OF - Curtis Granderson
OF - Juan Pierre
OF - Jason Kubel
Util - Miguel Tejada
BN- Jose Lopez

SP - CC Sabathia
SP - Josh Beckett
SP - Ubaldo Jimenez
SP - Joel Pinerio
SP - Wade Davis
RP - Heath Bell
RP - Jose Valverde
BN- Homer Bailey
BN- Mark Rzepczynski
BN- Madison Bumgarner

I'm crossing my fingers on my pitching staff, especially Davis, Bailey, Rzepczynski, and Bumgarner. I'd love some input or thoughts on how it panned out.

Yikes! offense looks miserable, and did you reach for Sabathia in the first round? Any chance you could post a draft recap- it might clarify some things, like who your 2-5th round picks were.

first of all, don't shoot the messenger.

but the truth is, a lot of your picks were too early.
For example, in my league Victor Martinez got picked in the 6th round, Beckett in the 7th, Jiminez in the 11th. Plus, a guy like Matt Weiters can match V-Marts production and gets picked about 5 rounds later.

CC Sabathia at 11th overall makes my soul hurt. V-Mart at 14th, too. I guess the rest of the first 6 picks are OK. Todd Helton in the 7th was a reach by quite a few rounds. I'm noticing a trend that these are all kind of brand-name players, if you get my drift. Although you've got some way young, way upside pitching at the end, so... yeah I'm confused. 3/4 of this draft looks like you follow baseball only peripherally and drafted the names you know, and the other 1/4 feels like you pay way too much attention to prospect hype.

In a sense, yes, you are right on the money. I jumped into the league last minute - I was not planning on doing anything this year but was talked into it. So I had maybe a day to prep. It was a rather fast-paced draft, so it was pretty rough going. I had to go with what I thought might be somewhat worthwhile and cross my fingers on prospects in later rounds that I thought might not get picked up. Any suggestions on how to correct some mistakes? Surely I have some wiggle room in trades...
