Alright, gents.

Here's a guy who I think can either make your draft or ruin it, especially in OBP leagues.

To start off with, we're talking about someone with an MDP of 73. In an OBP league that's probably going to be higher but still won't be cracking the top 25. But he probably should. I think.

Shandler likes him. Forecaster has him down for .289 / .404 / 29 HRs / 9 SBs / 94Rs / 98 RBIs. Now, if you took those numbers and changed the name to, "Joey Votto" you have a late 2nd rounder, maybe early 3rd.

There's also a decent amount of discussion that his last year wasn't that bad. He had a slow start, he was injured, and then he came back and was a beast.

But..... he's 34 years old. And he bruised his knee without running it into anything which Will Carroll attributes to the bones creaking together. And Berkman has said in interviews that his knees bothered him a little this winter.

So what are we looking at? Is Berkman the no longer sexy player who just puts up good numbers that people forgot? Or are we looking at heartbreak city where he'll miss a month or more of the season? I do believe getting the answer the right could make your season.

I like Berkman a lot this year for where he's being drafted. In standard leagues, I'll take him anywhere after 60 if he's available, maybe earlier depending how the rest of the draft is working out.

I think it's an even numbered season too, so he has that going for him.

In our league we don't have a util spot (yet, we are voting on it) and I already had Prince at 1B so I held off on Berkman for a long time, but when he fell all the way to the 10th I had to take him. If this vote goes through and we get the utility spot i definitley fell like I got Berkman as a steal with the 114th pick.

I've seen him falling to the 6th round and I have to take him there even if I have a 1B

Both are on crappy teams, so both will have diminished R/RBI, but my tipping point is Butler is younger, and hits for a better average. Berkman is a beast but again its hard to predict him from year to year. Butler smacked 50 doubles last year, so I am waiting for a power outburst.

based upon what i have see in mocks, you could probably even wait another round.
