I find Soriano an interesting pick. In a 12 team 5x5 standard league where would you draft him. I was doing a draft last night for a league that is not my main league and he was still there in the 11th round and I was leaning towards just rolling the dice on him.
I have him ranked in the 80's, but I'm not sure I'd take him there. I think I'd want him to slip at least a round (maybe two) before I take that flier (so I guess that means I really have him ranked at more like 95-100 ). He could be steal taken that low, but I suspect he'll just be mediocre.

Really? In the 80's? I've got him ranked around 40th for the OF.
12th-13th round absolute earliest for me. The idea that we're going to draft him over Adam Jones, Wieters, Beckham, Quentin, or Uggla (all with lower ADP per MockDraftCentral) is a price too far.

Yup, right at 80 actually, next to Rios. That's overall mind you, not just for OFs (although I'm not convinced that's what you meant). I'm not a big fan of guys coming off multiple down years (and sugeries), and Soriano just seems more likely to really be a 22 and 10 guy now than a 30 and 20 guy waiting to show (back) up. Even if he hits mid 20's on the HRs I don't really see him getting back up too far over 10 or maybe 15 steals. If you're projecting somthing closer to 30+ HRs and 20+ SB then obviously you'd move him up the board.
What kind of projections are you looking at for Soriano? I'm always curious to see what other guys are thinking about player ranks, especially when they disagree with the rankings I'm using.

No you understood me right, but 80 would make him a 7th round pick I don't see that for Soriano or Rios.
I'm thinking 60 R, 25 HR, 75 RBI, 5 SB, .265 BA for Soriano.
Interesting. The projection I'm using is 70 R, 25 HR, 85 RBI, 12 SB, .270 BA, more optimistic than yours across the board and I still have him ranked lower. The baseline predictions that my rankings are based off of are fairly optimistic across the board though (well, selectively anyway). Not Bill James otimistic, but still a little rosier for a lot of players than CHONE or marcel would grant. Plus he gets a downgrade for injury potential and the potential mental anguish of ownership.
Here's the guys I have ranked ahead directly ahead of Soriano:
Abreu Victorino Hunter Lee Zobrist Hamels Johnson Lee Jiminez Figgins Lee Nolasco Beckett Kershaw Span
I said I had him ranked around 40th for OF, overall he's around 115 on my list. I would take everyone of those players you listed before Soriano, easily.
In fact I've got Soriano in my 12 team, H2H league with 10 keepers and I'm not keeping him. J. Lopez is my last keeper.
I would only look at Soriano past the 11th-12th round. Much of his success depends on his knee holding up and somewhat related to that, if he can recover his bat speed. Because of his past with having nagging leg injuries, he doesn't have much value when he's a doubt to crack double-digit SB. He also didn't adjust well when pitchers laid off throwing the fastball to him.
Personally, I'd probably wait a round or two for a Reimold/Gutierrez type than go with Soriano.
