Rollins/Weaver for Kemp deal?

Postby gopirates! » Tue Mar 09, 2010 11:49 pm

Hey guys

Good to be back in season. Anyway, We had our draft about a week ago, and I've already got a trade offer. It is as follows:

I get: Matt Kemp
He gets: Jimmy Rollins/Jered Weaver

Here's my current roster:

C Yadier Molina
1B Billy Butler
2B Chase Utley
3B Mark Reynolds
SS Jimmy Rollins
OF Jacoby Ellsbury
OF Jayson Werth
OF Adam Dunn
Utility Nick Johnson/Johnny Damon/Corey Hart

SP Yovani Gallardo
SP John Lackey
SP Jered Weaver
RP Francisco Cordero
RP Frank Francisco
P Matt Capps
P Matt Lindstrom
Bench John Danks
Bench Gavin Floyd
Bench Kevin Slowey
Bench Derek Lowe
Bench Kyle Lohse

I tend to think my offense is pretty well-rounded, and my pitching is pretty deep. However, getting Kemp would give my outfield a huge boost. At the same time, however, shortstop is a pretty thin position, which causes me to be hesitant to give up Rollins. And my pitching would take a slight hit. All in all, do you guys think I should do this? Leave a link I'll help in return fo sho ;-D

Value seems about right, but I need to know how you fill SS before jumping on this.

Getting Kemp is a great move. Is there anyone on the waiver that you could plug in at SS? If there's a good enough option, I'd take this for sure. You could also try to move a depth OF (Damon) for a SS.

Do this on value alone.

Maybe turn around and offer Ellsbury/+ for Tulo or something like that.

In respoonse to you guys, SS is pretty thin. There are players like furcal, hardy, aybar on the waiver wire. Would these gguys be sufficient to fill in?

Aybar
Furcal
Hardy

In that order and they are sufficient enough

Do it then you have plenty of time to swing a deal for a SS. Your staff can definitely survive without Weaver ;-D

Even though you don't have SS cover, I'd go with Kemp. I'd try to swing one of Ellsbury/Werth/Dunn in a deal for a SS.
