Keeper Deal WHIR

Postby Guzman24 » Tue Mar 09, 2010 9:53 pm

Deal has changed, read bottom my post near bottom of thread :)

Keeper League 12 teams 5x5 h2h OBP instead of AVG keep 8

Current keepers: Arod, Utley, Howard, Reynolds, Reyes, Kemp, Verlander, JJohnson

On the outside looking in: McCann, Broxton, Carlos Lee

Another manager in my league is interested in Arod. He has Justing Upton and Carl Crawford who interest me.

Do you see anything that could work here. I was thinking something along the lines of Arod/McCann/Carlos Lee for Upton/Crawford and a draft pick. Too much? Too little? What do you think????

Upton/Crawford sounds tempting, but in a H2H league, I'd say Crawford's steals are devalued, which would make me inclined to keep the A-Rod side.

Mmm...
I'll taker Upton and Crawford over ARod and Johnson... especially with Howard and Reynolds on corners.

I like this deal, too. A-Rod probably has a couple of great years numbers-wise ahead of him, but he's soon to be on the downside of 40 and J-Up will be raking for years upon years to come. Crawford is, what, 28 years old? I say go for it. J Johnson is a solid pitcher, but this is still a great deal in a keeper league. You also already have some nice power bats in Howard & Reynolds, plus Utley & Kemp give you those 5-tool player numbers. It'd be insane to add Upton & Crawford to that mix. Heck, the more I think about it, the more appealing it sounds.

My thoughts exactly. While I like ARod, the youth of Upton and Crawford's upside I think trump ARod's value...and with Reynolds & Howard at the corners...i'd do it

thanks for helping with mine

I don't mind that deal so much since McCann and Lee going back into draft anyway. And with getting 2 keepers back I would drop Johnson off your current keeper list. Try to get as high a draft pick as possible, see if he'll give you a 1st or 2nd but settle not less than a 3rd (all rounders I mean) then with whatever pick you get draft Jayson Heyward early with the extra pick

OK, he's not really a fan of trading CC and Upton.

He countered with Arod/Mcann/Lee for Crawford/1st rounder/4th rounder

Would you make that deal if he put Upton into the deal instead of Crawford? I can see Arod with better numbers this year but this is a keeper league and having Upton would be nice going forward.

Keepers would then be: Utley,Howard,Upton, Kemp, Reyes, Reynolds, Verlander, JJohnson plus id have my picks back in the draft. I traded away some last year and managed to win the league. Missing my 1st and 2nd.

I'm not as big a fan of Upton as many are. I really think hes in the same catagory as Rios. A little overrated. Crawford is 29 years old and didn't run as mych last year but could end up with the Yankees next year and his power could gain a boost playing in Yankee stadium.
I still like Arod for several more years. McCann is probably the second best hitting catcher in the game .Man I'm torn those picks would be nice but I think I like the Arod side.

This is a tough call.

What kind of players are going to be available with your 1st and 2nd round picks? I think that will help us decide if it's worth doing. I think ARod>Upton for 3-4 more years. Losing Lee isn't a big deal as he is on the downside of his career. Losing one of the top catchers might be tough. Who is available to replace him?

The thing is I wasn't really planning on keeping McCann. We keep 8 and I like to have 2 pitchers especially since I'm missing my first two draft picks this year.

Arod,Howard,Utley,Reyes,Reynolds,Kemp as bats. Verlander, JJohnson as SP. There's no room for McCann
