I love you, Joe Nathan's elbow!

So another owner's misfortune is my jackpot. I don't own Nathan, but two days after one of my drafts I find myself carrying 2 setup guys in my bullpen in a league where owning a few closers is pretty big, and I also find myself with #1 waiver priority.

Which Twins closer candidate should I put a claim in on?

Eno Sarris took this on at rotographs; someone else wrote on it at ESPN and a third take is on BP.

Mijares, Rauch, and Guerrier are the 3 choices. I'm leaning heavily towards Rauch if I had to pick. He's not the best pitcher in the lot, but I see him getting the call. Guerrier will suffer from the reverse of the halo effect (too valuable where he's at), and Mijares seems like someone Gardy won't trust. Neshek needs to show me a healthy inning or three before I make you burn your waiver (so to speak on make, of course), and Crain only looks like a closer.

Rauch for me. Expect this thread to disagree heavily though. It's not clear, no matter what some will tell you.

My guess is Rauch is going to get the first crack it it, simply because he's been in that role before.

edit: I'm not going to lie, as far as fantasy goes, I'm not unhappy about it. The team that traded for Mauer and Hanley this offseason (to go along with his other three keepers: Miguel Cabrera, Holliday and Sabathia) drafted Nathan, and his only other closer right now is Billy Wagner, whose arm is probably only holding on by threads.

That said, I hate seeing any player get hurt, and this is a big hurt for the Twinkies. Hopefully he can come back from this, because I think it's possible (maybe not likely) that this could mean the end of his career.
