Gallardo or Josh Johnson?

Postby zebulon » Tue Mar 09, 2010 11:14 am

I have the 7th pick in our keeper league.

My current keepers are:

Kemp
Mig. Cabrera
Wainwright
Aaron Hill
Reimold (1 keeper has to be a rookie from the previous season)

I keep going back and forth whether to take a hitter or pitcher. But now I am leaning toward pitching, since I would like to have a good 1-2 at the top of my rotation. I am expecting the first 2 teams to take pitching based on their keepers with Haren and Carpenter most likely the 1st 2 to go. I expect Cliff Lee to be taken with the 5th pick.

So, barring any surprises, it would look like Josh Johnson and Gallardo would be the best SP available by my pick. I am sort of leaning toward Gallardo, because I think he will be more dominant but he did wear down at the end of 2009. I am figuring on taking a pitcher thinking that if 3 of the first 7 picks are pitchers, other teams will panic, being that this is a Yahoo league and ERA is the tie breaker in H2H, which might still leave some attractive hitters for my 2nd pick.

I'll take Gallardo. Might be a big year for him.

I would prefer Johnson, but with Wainwright already on your team, I would really be looking at some bats.
