What round to draft Heyward and Strasburg?

Postby msutiger » Mon Mar 08, 2010 4:54 pm

I have an upcoming draft for a keeper league. What round should I go after these 2? I was thinking maybe 7 or 8 for Heyward and 9 or 10 for Strasburg

Honestly, if it's a keeper league, I don't think you're going to be able to wait that long if you really want them.

I've seen both go as early as 10th round in a 12 team mock... for a redraft league.

If these are guys you'd really like to target, you're probably going to have to start looking around the 4th or 5th round (depending on keeper settings of course). To be honest though, the hype on these guys is so big that unless you're not trying to win this season, you'd be better off just hoping they fall. There's no way I'd reach as high as you're going to have to just to get two guys that are only slightly better prospects than several others who you can get 10+ rounds later.

Agreed. Both of these players are better left on someone else's roster. That said, if you REALLY want to target these guys, play the ying to everyone else's yang and draft them early enough that you KNOW no one else will reach for them. It could pay off, but who really knows.
