Being able to pause the draft would be a great feature. I'd love to see that next year. And if you give each league commish the option for how long you have for each pick, that would make a lot of people happy too. If you really want the draft to move set it low, if you have more time and want to draft carefully set it to a longer number.

You can pause the draft this year heh... that is already present. As I mentioned somewhere else recently, I believe the limits are:
* Up to 5 pauses per draft
* Each pause is either 30 seconds or 3 minutes
* At each pause you can undo up to 5 picks
Pick time might conceivably be configurable in the future, but I can almost assure you it won't be configurable to something like 30 minutes heh... we're trying to manage a limited set of machine resources for running live drafts. Thousands of them at the same time. If each of those drafts can be assured to take somewhere between 2 hours and... 150 hours? that becomes pretty impossible to do. There are all sorts of other complications. At some point in the season drafts stop. If your draft can last nearly a week, that gets sticky. There is also maintenance we currently do overnight. If your draft spans days, that becomes a challenge.
More to the point, if you want 30 minutes per pick, I don't think what you want is really a live draft. What you want at that point is a slow draft, which I view as a different feature altogether, and is something that is on "the list". But a configurable limit within the scope of a few minutes is pretty reasonable.

Thanks for the reply and information. I guess I don't really want 30 minutes per pick, that is a little ridiculous. I just wanted enough of a time cushion in case someone lost their internet connection. The ability to pause the draft for up to 30 minutes at a time in case something happens is really what I'm looking for. And 3 minutes a pick does sound better for later in the draft as well.

Pretty sure Couch Managers site can handle a free, slow draft well if that's what you're interested in:
http://www.couchmanagers.com/Entering the results into Yahoo as an offline draft is relatively painless.
