I can keep one of these two as my 8th round pick.
Chris Carpenter or Justin Verlander
I can keep Carpenter this year and next but if I keep Verlander I can keep him this year and the next 3 as 8th round pick.

I have Verlander slightly over Carpenter in a scratch draft. So, that you have the opportunity to keep him more years puts him even farther above.

I would have like Verlander regardless, but since you can keep him for more years that even makes it easier for me.

another vote for verlander for sure. better pitcher, younger, plus you keep him for extra years, whats not to like
