Keeper math help needed - WHIR!

Postby Lenny6 » Sun Mar 07, 2010 3:50 pm

I still have some time before keepers are due, but I'm having a hard time deciding so I could use your help this week! I can keep up to 13 players or $156 fantasy dollars, whichever comes first. It is a 12-team weekly H2H league and players can be kept up to 3 times. Scoring is:

Batters:
TB, R, RBI, SB, BB, HBP = +1
E, GDP = -1
K = -0.5

Pitchers:
1/3 IP, K = +1
ER = -2
BB, HB = -1
HA = -0.5
W = +3
SV = +5.5
HLD = +2.5

The pitcher scoring rewards steady starting pitchers that rack up quality starts since wins are devalued and starting pitchers tend to be overvalued because having a great staff is key when factoring in some pitchers start twice in a week.

My team:
Roy Halladay $48
Matt Holliday $39
Lance Berkman $36
John Lackey $21
Aramis Ramirez $21
Robinson Cano $14
Matt Garza $14
Scott Baker $12
Clay Buchholz $10
Brian Wilson $10
Casey Blake $9
Billy Butler $9
Michael Cuddyer $9
Marco Scutaro $9
Huston Street $9
Ryan Braun $8
Stephen Drew $8
Chris Volstad $8
Kenshin Kawakami $5
James McDonald $2

Braun for $8 is my only no-brainer. I could try trading since I have two decent closers and shortstops. Some players I know for sure that will be available at auction that might help with decision making:

C McCann
1B Fielder, Howard, Youkilis
2B Kinsler
3B Wright, Youkilis
SS Reyes, Rollins
OF Sizemore, Markakis
SP F.Hernandez, Santana, Wainwright, Cain, Hamels
RP Papelbon

Thanks, and I will help in return!!

This is tough though. Do you have to keep either 13 players or $156 worth?

That was a good question and it might be important to point out that any extra money below the $156 can be carried over and used at the auction. So there is incentive to keep as many players as possible towards the 13 number while keeping keeper salaries low. Does that change who you would keep?

Thanks! Any one else? Leave a link to your thread and I will return the help!!

Roy Halladay $48 (Should be THE stud in this format)
John Lackey $21 (Solid guy that goes deep in games)
Scott Baker $12 (I think is headed to a big season)
Clay Buchholz $10 (Nice upside,)
Brian Wilson $10 (Closer, nuff said)
Billy Butler $9 (Could be on a big upswing season)
Ryan Braun $8 (yeah...no comment)
Stephen Drew $8 (Under appreciated)
$126

I would try to nail down a guy like King Felix or Wainwright in your draft and then piece your outfield with some big bats, thus Holliday can be thrown back and if you really want, just buy him back.
