New Dynasty League Draft: who would you take next? WHIR

12 Team Dynasty Points league.
This is my first points league, so I am not too sure how to pick players?
It also has a kinda strange scoring which uses neg cats like Ks and Ls and CSs along with the usual ones. The scoring also puts top RPs among top SPs with regard to total points.
Starting Positions: C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, OF, OF, OF, UT, UT, SP(5), RP(2)
Here is my current roster:
Mi Cab(1B)
A. Hill(2B)
R. Zimmerman(3B)
B. Zobrist(OF,SS,2B)
M. Reynolds(1B,3B)
J. Werth(OF)

I pick again in 4 picks, so here are my top choices, by position, and would appreciate you ranking them in order. THanks!
- Shin So Choo(OF)
- Adam Dunn(1B,OF)
- Derek Jeter(SS)
- Miguel Montero(C)
- Carpenter, Billingsley, Jered Weaver, Jurrjens(SP)
- Andrew Bailey(RP)

I would grab Carpenter, the best pitcher available I take so at least you get 1 #1, and not a staff of 4's and 5's

help with mine?

Thanks to both of you for the help! ;-D

The only reason that Jeter and Carpenter are still there is their age in this Dynasty league draft.
I took Reynolds with my last pick and even with his Ks, he was the highest scoring hitter still available at the time based on last year's stats.

Thanks again!

At this point in your draft, you still need to be in the mindset of "draft for this year". Use your later picks for forecasts.

You need outfielders. I would take Choo. Yes, his K's will hurt, but his talent is legit and he'll still finish as a top 20 OF in your league. He's also still young, and if he develops discipline his value will increase a lot.

I think I would go Choo and then Dunn. Choo has less of a negative impact and is younger which is always important to keep in the back of your mind in a Dynasty.

A little help please: viewtopic.php?t=402400

Interesting tid bit about Choo, unless S.Korea wins the next WBC with Choo, he has to do 2 years of mandatory military time before 30, so he is looking kinda iffy after next spring training

Thanks again to everyone who helped! ;-D

It is my turn to pick now.
Shoo and Billingsley are gone.

So, my choices are down to Dunn, Bailey, Jerod Weaver, Jurrgens or Carpenter?

Here's how they scored in this league using their 2009 stats:
Dunn - 455
Bailey - 556
Weaver - 617
Jurrgens - 564
Carpenter - 655

If I was sure that Carpenter would stay healthy for one more year, he'd be my no brainer. As it is, I am leaning towards Dunn or Bailey.

Anyone with a final last minute opinion?
Thanks again!

It's a Dynasty though.

I would rather have 5 years of Bills or Bailey, then Carpenter.
