How does my team look?

Postby Mateo de Lorenzo » Sun Mar 07, 2010 4:45 am

So, beings this is only my second year doing fantasy baseball, I thought I would seek input on my team. Where do I need the most improvement? Where I am strongest/can afford to give a little to improve elsewhere.

Somali Pirates

C Joe Mauer
1B Adrian Gonzalez
2B Richie Weeks
3B Ryan Zimmerman
SS Elvis Andrus
OF Matt Kemp
OF Carl Crawford
OF Adam Lind
UT Michael Bourn
UT Carlos Lee
BN Chris Coghlan, Julio Borbon, Yunel Escobar, James Loney, Placido Polanco

SP Clayton Kershaw
SP Jon Lester
RP Andrew Bailey
RP Fernando Rodney
P Josh Beckett
P Brett Anderson
BN Cole Hamels

While there is another forum for exactly this question, i'll have a look! Your OF is excellent, 30/30 guy with kemp, 50+ SB and .300+ AVG with Crawford and .300ish/30/100 with Lind. However Weekes as your startng 2B is worrisome. You have power taken care of clearly, with kemp, Lind, Maur, A-Gon, and Zimm. I'd say your biggest weakness is at 2nd. Your staff is great, young, but huge upside with Kershaw and Anderson, and potential to rebound in Hamels. I'd say go after a 2b and you should be alright.

Yeah I guess I should have lined Polanco up in the 2B slot before posting. I had already recognized the weakness there and made a FA acquisition of Polanco to upgrade some, but because the season isn't too near, I haven't reflected that in the actual lineup yet. (I kept Weeks just to have a backup 2B)

No. Keep Weeks at second base for now. Polanco is the safer option but a healthy Weeks at the beginning of the year is a top-10 2B. Just wait for him to get hurt and then put Polanco in.
