I was lucky to get Hanson last season for $1 in both of my auction keeper leagues. Does anyone looked poised to have a breakout season similar this year? Doesn't have to be a pitcher either. Thanks.

I think Jeremy Hellickson has a profile going into 2010 that's a lot like Hanson's going into 2009.

heres report from spring training on Hellickson Twenty-three pitches. One and one-third innings. One hit, a triple by a backup catcher named Francisco Cervelli. Two strikeouts, a couple of guys named Derek Jeter (who flailed at a nasty curve) and Mark Teixeira (on a gutsy full-count changeup). "Liked it," Maddon said. "Very impressive," Rays pitching coach Jim Hickey said.

Don't think it's necessary to calculate who exactly it would be.

On a scale of 0 to 1, what are the chances that all five Tampa starters stay healthy the entire season?
OK, now multiply it by this...
On a scale of 0 to 1, what are the chances that all five Tampa starters will be effective?

On a scale of 0 to 1, what are the chances that Tampa will want to give its young arms 200 innings each?
Multiply by 100 and that's the percentage chance that Tampa will not need a replacement starter at some point during the season.
My estimate? .3 x .3 x .3 x 100 = 2.7 percent

Take that answer and cut it in half then double it

2.7 percent chance that 1 out of every 100 people understand this.

Seems simple enough. Prospect of injury, ineffectiveness, or discretion due to youth will open up a slot in the rotation. Sure, could have been said in fewer words, but had he just said, there's a 97% shot that Hellickson will get a shot, you probably would think he was pulling the number of thin air.

I think he's pulling the number out of thin air either way.
