An article on Sports Illustrated Online begins by saying:
Fantasy football is wildly popular because it's a) easy to manage, taking only a half hour of your time each week to get up to speed on the previous week; and b) totally inclusive, inviting players of all levels; and c) transient and completely matchup-based. Far less popular, fantasy baseball is a much more intimate undertaking. With games played nearly every day for six months, you develop a "relationship" with the players on your team, making it even more important to be comfortable with those you draft.
I think it just depends on the kind of person you are or the time you want to put in. For me Fantasy Football doesnt satisfy me the way Baseball does; but alot of people like just the once a week thrill and don't want to have to obsess over their team daily to compete.
I don't have any statistics, but just based on personal experience I would agree with that article in that fantasy football is much more popular than fantasy baseball. Whenever we've had vacancies in my football league, they've been much easier to fill than in my baseball leagues. The fact that there's fewer games and you can watch most of them on a single day makes fantasy football more of a "fantasy-fest" on Sundays, whereas fantasy baseball is a season-long marathon some users can quickly become bored with.
Fantasy football is much more popular. I looked up the numbers this past fall and it's somewhere around thirty million people play fantasy football every year. It's, if I remember right, the most popular online game of anything, even beating out World of Warcraft and all those kinds of things.
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.

As it turns out, I've seen some stats on this subject Yes, I regret to inform you that we get waaaay more fantasy football players than any other sport. I personally recommend you all take this as an affront to your sensibilities, and recruit all your friends to create fantasy baseball leagues on our site to combat the success of football
