Justin Upton signs six-year, $51 million w/DBacks

Did a search but didn't see this posted yet. Looks like an amazing deal for for the D'Backs if even a fraction of the hype comes to fruition. Maybe he was unaware of his own hype. :-B

it's a great deal for both sides. the security of $51MM is worth quite a bit of money to someone signing his first contract, it's a lot of money to be guaranteed if something goes wrong. he's pretty much set for life and anything he makes on top won't have near the utility of this contract.

plus he'll be 28 and right in his prime when this contract expires so he'll still be able to pull down a monster contract if he ends up living up to the hype.

I agree, Taylor Swift. It should work out for both sides.

As long as Upton continues to improve, this is a great deal for the D'Backs buying out 2 years of free agency.
