Draft Help Please

So.. My 20 teamer is back for another year, and I was forced to cut players who would start for half the teams in my league (again), Points league and I find myself with the 4th pick in the draft after a wierd collapse the last two weeks (we play for draft position).

I'm certain that the top three picks will be Strasburg, Chapman and Ackley, and the guy ahead of my will not budge (as he has a hole at 2b as well as I do).

Any advise would be appreciated. Trades are always a possibility but thanks to some steals of players who immediately paid off(ZG, Upton, Blanton) in the past I find myself forced to overpay now.

Here is my rosters, starting 9/5. (minor leaguers)

C: Wieters//Soto (I would love to trade soto, but may need to have a good month first)
1B: Tex (Smoak, Weglarz, Allen)
2B: OPEN
SS: A. Ramirez// Furcal (Cardenas)
3B: Gordon (Gamel, Moosetacos)
OF: JUpton, Bruce, Hart //Coghlan
DH: T. Snider

P: ZG, Peavy, Oswalt, K-Rod, Valverde //Jenks, Garza, Holland, Blanton (Parker)

So.. thoughts? Matzek the choice or do I sell out for Ackley..

(And yes, this team looks like crap on paper, but in a 20 team league its actually pretty deep.

What are your options besides Matzek?

everyone from this years draft and guys like Westmoreland and Castro. Its gonna go Messiah, Chapman, Ackley.

I just turned Blanton and a late pick into Barmes and Furcal into Mejia and a pick.


My thoughts have refined. Tex is good for a few years at least, I can turn Smoak into Ackley, take Castro 4th and have my middle infield set hopefully for years. Use my 2nd rounder on the Best Pitcher Available and then go after some MLB fillers later in the draft. Then hope either Weglarz or Allen develops or watch out for a 1b prospect to emerge, as they are known to do.

I like Westmoreland a little more than Castro and Ackley's move to 2B is by no means set in stone.
