I see he threw two innings for the Giants today, and was wondering if anyone was able to watch him pitch today and could comment on his radar readings? I'll be keeping close tabs on his velocity all Spring, and anxiously awaiting a return to the 91-94 MPH range
apparently gameday was displaying 88 MPH (not sure how accurate that's going to be during spring training) but Jon Miller was saying on the radio he was in the low 90s. no clue which to believe, but this early in spring training i don't think we should be worrying about it too much if it's a little low.

That's a fine starting point, as I'd assume he'd build on that. I don't figure he'd be throwing max velo first game in the spring. Thanks for the news .

Bumgarner got by with deception and diminished velocity over the second half of last season as well, so this bears watching. At this point, we'll have to consider Todd Wellemeyer the early favorite for the No. 5 starter job. The lack of velocity resulted in Bumgarners K/9 dropping from 10.5 in Low-A in 2008 to just 5.8 last year in Double-A, and with a .241 BABIP, there's reason to be concerned, particularly if he can't find that other 5 mph hour that seems to have vanished.

Same here. I'm worried that he tops out around 90 MPH but let's give him a couple of weeks.

I guess I am just pleased to read he's not Jamie Moyer at this point hahaha. I have confidence with a little more work his velocity will go up some... though it definitely still is something I'll be watching intently all spring.
