Struggling to decide on final keeper! Always WHIR

Postby candyman » Wed Mar 03, 2010 6:44 pm

I got some pretty good value last year in my draft and through FA so I have some tough decisions to choose my 3 keepers (ridiculous, down from 5 last year, I was the only one in the league that voted to expand to 7 keepers :-P )...

Here are out league rules, pitchers are pretty heavily weighed...

Weekly, 10 team, H2H Points league; 5 keepers
Very screwy scoring: Singles: 1, Doubles: 2, Triples: 3, HR:4, RBI:1, Runs:1, SB: 3, BB:1, GIDP: -1,
IP: 3 W: 10, K:1, Save: 5, H: -1, L: -5, ER: -2, Blown Saves: -3

2 starters at each position, 4 OF, 1 util , 9 Pitchers...

Now the guys I'm choosing between (round pick I forfeit to keep in paranthesis):
Tommy Hanson (30) - Duh
Aaron Hill (29) - Another Duh

Now I'm struggling because I have Kershaw at 18, or McCutchen at 28... I know McCutchen has serious value as a 28th rounder, but pitchers can really rack up points, and Kershaw also holds great value at 18...

What do you all think? Kershaw or McCutchen... If anybody is feeling Alexei Ramirez at 24 or McLouth at 24 more than the players mentioned above I could keep them too...

Leave a link and I'll help in return!

i'd go with mccutchen, kershaw has the potential to be great but he's going to have to improve his control quite a bit first. with only 3 keepers you want to keep the 3 who can help you the most this year and hill, hanson and mccutchen look to be those guys.

Well both will out produce their draft spot of course. I love both guys to have great years but I don't think you can pass up Kershaw who has the stuff to be the next Lincecum at round 18.

please help my post if you can, thanks

I hope you were saying you are def keepin HANSON, cause he is dominant....but I would keep kershaw as im assuming this is like cbs points league? where pitching is very important as well

I would also go with the value play and keep McCutchen. In a ten teamer, there will still be some decent players available in the 18th round, so I think that pick has some value, and McCutchen will help you more this year anyways.

that scoring system seems to have alot of value for steals as well.. a single and an SB is 4 points. same as a HR.. I like McCutchen here, personally.. also, he looked really, really good as the year progressed last year. I think he could be something special..

Pittsburgh is a wasteland for careers. Like Detroit in football.
