New Team & First Post

Postby lambo1203 » Wed Mar 03, 2010 3:32 pm

Hey guys! So this is my first post. I've been doing fantasy baseball for about 6 years now but just found out about this site, so I'm here to give it a shot. Here's my team this year. I'm in an 8-team ESPN standard league (with a few different roster slots.) Where do I need to improve? Suggestions/comments?

C Yadier Molina
1B Albert Pujols
2B Dustin Pedroia
SS Derek Jeter
3B David Wright
OF Jacoby Ellsbury
OF Nick Markakis
OF B.J. Upton
Util Aramis Ramirez
Util Nate McLouth
SP Jon Lester
SP Matt Cain
SP Jake Peavy
SP Scott Baker
RP Huston Street
RP Brian Fuentes

Notables on bench: Hunter Pence, Jay Bruce, Todd Helton, David Ortiz

For an 8 Team it looks pretty solid, your SP is a lil weak compared to the rest of the team but other than that everything looks good.
Idk how helpful Helton is gonna be, and Ortiz if he continues to crap the bed...

Good Luck

I like the lineup except for your two UTIL's. I would put Pence in there instead of Mclouth. I am not too high on Ramirez because I am not big on the Cubbies in general, but he is the best you have now. Unless Jay Bruce plays to his potential. Keep Ortiz on a short leash. Probably not worth keeping around for longer than a month if he is not hitting above .275.

your offense is strong but you need SP help. See if you can pull a 2 for 1 for one of your better hitters.

Your offense is loaded. You have a 'name' at every single position, which you've gotta love. Can't really do much to improve it. As for your pitching...the pitchers that you have are all good, you just need more of them. I love Lester (sleeper Cy Young candidate?), and Cain says he is determined to keep up with Tiny Tim this year. I'd say just try to get 2 or 3 more decent starters to add to your bench just for depth.

I also agree with the post before mine that says to put Pence in instead of McClouth. I think he will be more productive. Then possibly try to trade McClouth for a pitcher.

Thoughts on mine? viewtopic.php?t=401889

Thanks for your help with mine, sorry I was so very late responding. But your offense is very loaded, I think Papi will have a bounce back year, and I feel the same with BJ Upton. But as it stands now, you may get about 60 or so wins with your pitchers you have now, maybe you can use Markakis, McClouth, OR Hunter Pence as trade bait to get another good pitcher, as has everyone else said.
