Rank these players - Keeper redraft, WHIR

Postby GreenMtn! » Wed Mar 03, 2010 12:28 pm

16 Team Keeper, H2H, 8X8 Standard + 2B, 3B, BB / IP, QS, Holds

Here are my keepers:

C
1B Miguel Cabrera
2B
3B Jorge Cantu
SS Jason Barlett
RF Bobby Abreu
CF Andrew McCutchen
LF Jason Bay
Util

SP Roy Halladay
SP Matt Garza

My first pick is the 10th overall in a keeper redraft. How would you rank the following players based on my needs? Obviously, a good many of them will be gone, but you never know who. I'd like to either fill my 2B or Util slot with my first pick but would take a SP if a good one fell to me.

Kendry Morales
Carlos Peña

Gordon Beckham
Jose Lopez
Howie Kendrick
Ian Stewart
Rickie Weeks

Hunter Pence
Carlos Quentin
Nate McClouth
Denard Span
Carlos Lee
Jason Kubel
Raúl Ibañez
Michael Cuddyer

Yovani Gallardo
Chad Billingsley
Javier Vasquez

K-Rod
Andrew Bailey
Brian Wilson

I would rank them in this order for your team:

Gordon Beckham
Yovani Gallardo
Kendry Morales
Javier Vasquez
Chad Billingsley
Jose Lopez
Ian Stewart
Hunter Pence
Carlos Quentin
Rickie Weeks
Carlos Peña
Denard Span
Carlos Lee
K-Rod
Andrew Bailey
Brian Wilson
Nate McClouth
Jason Kubel
Howie Kendrick
Raúl Ibañez
Michael Cuddyer

Help with mine please. I'm looking for more opinions http://www.fantasybaseballcafe.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=401805

Carlos Lee, Beckham, Gallardo, or Billingsley would be no-brainers (in that order) if they fell to you. Carlos Lee, while a little older, is like a 4th rounder in this format, why the previous poster didn't even put him in the top 10 of his list is beyond me. Since you have designated LF/RF/CF spots, it dilutes corner OF's a little, and if you got to keep these guys for a long time, I would consider Beckham over Lee since he'll fill a need at 2B.

While you said you'd like a SP, I would select most of those batters you mentioned ahead of Vasquez. Those closers would be at the bottom of my list since your league really devalues closers since half of the pitching categories are dominated by SP's compared to RP's (IP, W, K, QS).

Of the top of my head, I'd rank the rest of the players like this:

Morales
Pena
Pence
Quentin
Ibanez
Kubel
Stewart
McClouth
Span
Cuddyer
Lopez
Vasquez
Kendrick
Weeks

I'd go for these first

Beckham, Gallardo, Morales, Pence, Lopez...

Fill out your INF before you go for more SP

Good Luck
I guess there was no curse... Boston just sucked for 86 years...

Thanks guys for your input.

I took Ian Stewart, Hunter Pence, Clay Buchholz and Carlos Quentin with my first 4 picks. Pretty happy with them!

Nice job. You picked 10th and got my 4 and 5. Just curious, what were the 1st 9 picks?

The 1st 7 were solid. Not sure why Martin/Span went over Pence/Quentin?

You got 4 nice picks.
