I have 10 no-brainers I will keep, but can save 2 more. All these guys will go for more in the upcoming auction because of depth of league and cheap saved contracts.
Please give me your recommendations on which 2 from the following list you would save:
Theriot and Hughes -- the former is VERY solid at a shallow position, and the latter will be used by the Yanks in whatever manner maximizes his abilities, so you know he'll be an asset. I don't trust the other two just yet.
I should’ve included my current roster to put options in clearer context:
Some of these values may look funky , but we can keep players through 3rd year at auction price before signing to a contract (which increases in increments of $5 for a max of 4 yrs).
I am very pitcher heavy in my keepers.
Pitchers: Verlander $20 Cliff Lee $1 Greinke $10 Frank Francisco $10 Clay Bucholz $5 Neftali Feliz $5 Strasburg $10 (am I crazy keeping him? I was able to pick up as a free agent after MLB draft and had to burn an open slot on him last year, so it’s principle that has him included).
Hitters: Snider $5 Pence $10 Fowler $5
I also can save 2 minor leaguers that don’t go against my savable keepers (Bumgarner and Heyward)
**Hughes not being guaranteed the 5th spot in the rotation and me having to submit this weekend has made me hesitant on keeping him. But, if he does, he’ll have huge upside.
And to the one poster, yes I do have 5 OF positions to fill.
At this point, your comments have me leaning toward Theriot and probably Headley (board loves Hughes but thinking I need the hitter). Thanks for not mentioning Glaus I was talking myself into him before I posted this thread since he will be batting clean up.
Thanks again, everyone! I’d appreciate any additional comments and will respond to yours.
