we play 8 postition players, 1 utility, 3 SPs, 2 RPs, and 3 Ps. I won last year (back to back) so i think im getting the last pick of 10 (not sure if we are going random or reverse order of finish)
need to keep 5 of the following: Matt Holliday Ian Kinsler Joe Mauer Jose Reyes Alex Rodriguez Tim Lincecum There are other options too like Votto, Lind, Wainwright, Broxton, and Dunn, but I am pretty set with 5 of this 6
H2H with the following stat categories: R, HR, RBI, SB, K, AVG, OPS, W, CG, SV, K, ERA, WHIP
Last year I did not keep Mauer but was able to get him in the first round (back problems). Don't think I can pull that off this year. Thanks! WHIR
Lincecum, ARod, and Mauer are givens. If I had to drop one of the 5 I'd say Holliday only because Reyes and Kinsler are tops in a premium position. Power hitting outfielders are a little easier to come by. I'd also take a good long look at Broxton, closers are uncertain commodities and Broxton is a Saves/K stud.
I'd drop Reyes as well. I've been preaching that his injury will hurt his speed and it'll take time for him to trust his legs again. Anyone seeing 40+ SB from him is setting themselves up for a disappointment. You can pick a speedster at SS like Andurs, Escobar, Cabrera for super cheap and get similar stats to Reyes.
Then I'll echo another poster here:
I'd keep Votto over Kinsler. If this was a 5x5 league, it would be different, but you've got OPS.
1st base is deep blah blah blah. Votto was fourth in OPS last year and missed a month of the season (thus a lower than advertised run and RBI production). In a couple of years, he'll be a right upper there with the elites. Meanwhile, 2nd base is much deeper than it once was. Kinsler gives you speed and HR production, but he won't have another .300 season. His OPS is down right pitiful for someone who hits 30 HR. He'll give you about 140 games this season and you'll be wishing you had secured Votto.
Definitely Mauer, A-Rod, and Timmy. I'd go Holliday, too. Kinsler seems obvious over Reyes, but don't forget he has yet to crack 150 games in a season.
Follow Reyes closely in Spring Training and see if he's running well.
Thanks for your help with mine. I think I have to go with the majority on here and say that Reyes is the odd man out. Votto is very intriguing but I have a hard time picking someone to replace him for.
Nice squad.
