onto topic at hand, I personally think the CY needs to start being based more like the MVP. Why is it pitchers on crappy teams get a pass, but hitters cant?

MVP is for all players Cy Young is for pitchers Hank Aaron is for hitters
The latter just doesn't get any publicity for the most part.

the Cy Young is for the best pitcher in the league. this is independent of any offensive contributions by the team.
the MVP is for the most valuable player in the league, and the voters tend to think that in order to be considered the most valuable you must have carried your team into or close to the posteason.
