Auction Keeper Question PLEASE HELP!

Postby ChicksDigTheLongBall » Mon Mar 01, 2010 2:53 pm

I am in a 12 team 6 x 6 mixed roto league (BA, HR, OPS, RBI, SB, R x ERA, WHIP, Ks, Ws, SVs, Ks/9)
$300 salary for starters below and 6 bench players
Starting Pos: 2 C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, MI, CI, 5 OF, 2 Util, 10 Pitchers
I need to chose 4 keepers out of this list, who would you keep? (Their 2010 value is what I have assigned, and can keep players year to year with a 20% salary increase. 4 year keeper max):

Matt Wieters ($4)
A Rod ($44) Pujols went for $52 as highest player at our auction in 2009
Gordon Beckham ($4)
Jacoby Ellsbury ($5)
Chris Davis ($5)
Josh Hamilton ($6) Last yr I could keep him
Juan Pierre ($3)
Rick Porcello ($4)
Justin Verlander ($11)

Thanks for the help!!!

If the price of Arod goes up 20% every year than he is going to cost $53 next and $63 the year after. He's also probably reached his limit and will probably start declining due to his age. Not my favorite option. You are in a great position to get your team in awesome shape for your later years and also compete this year. I would go for high profile value because you have some on your team. These my choices for you. In parenthesis is what it would cost you to keep them in subsequent years (now, 2011, 2012, 2013).

Ellsbury ($5, $6, $7, $9)
Wieters ($4, $5, $6, $7)
Gordon Beckham ($4, 5, 6, 7)
Verlander (11, 13, 16, 19)

The value of these players now is already more than what you will pay for each them in 2013 without even considering how much better any of them will get.
