J. Lester for Brian Roberts? WHIR!

Postby Hawkeye1 » Mon Mar 01, 2010 2:32 pm

I'm in a 15 team roto keeper league. We can keep up to 7 players in exchange for the draft pick they were selected with last year.

Our categories are: Doubles + Triples, HRs, KOs, On Base %, Runs, RBIs - HRs, Stolen Bases - Caught Stealing, Slugging %, WHIP, Wins - Loses, Net Saves, Ks, HRs Allowed, Holds, ERA, and Complete Games/Shut Outs/No Hitters.

Our positions: 2 Cs, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, Middle Infielder, Corner Infielder, 5 OFs, DH and any 9 pitchers. There are also 9 bench spots.

Here are the guys I'm considering plus their draft round. I've also included players that I think may have some trade value. Obviously, I'll be looking to package some of these guys for upgrades. I've put asterix by the guys I'm likely keeping. I'd be giving up Lester (22nd round). Roberts would be a 4th round pick. Thoughts?
A-Rod - 1*
Derrek Lee - 2
Ryan Zimmerman - 3*
Joe Nathan - 4
Carlos Zambrano - 5
Chad Billingsley - 10*
Hideki Matsui - 12
Ryan Doumit - 19
BJ Upton - 20*
Carlos Quentin - 21*
Jon Lester - 22*
Cliff Lee - 29*

Why would you do that deal?

Lester in round 22 is value, I would keep him over Billingsly in the 10th any day.

If you get Roberts would you have to give a 4th rounder to keep him? If so, there is no way I make that deal.

Keep your 7, no trade.

I agree, no way I take Roberts in the 4th over Lester in the 22nd.

Absolutely no. Lester for a 22nd is WAY to nice to let go of.

I've already declined the trade but the other owner is hot for Lester. Asked what kind of draft compensation he'd have to give me to make it work. I'm thinking top 5 rounds if at all.

Can you post his roster and rounds he would be giving up? And the fact that he wants Lester so bad should tell you a 22 round pick for him is highway robbery.

Evan Longoria and Hanley Rimerez for only the 26 and 23 round picks? Man that seems like screwed up rules. dynasty galore.....

It's a true dynasty league. The guy that drafted Longoria sat on him for a good two seasons in the minors before he ever reaped the eventual rewards.
