I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question but here it is.

I've been invited into a neighbourhood league that uses a format I'm not familar with and would appreciate your comments.

It is a yahoo fantasy points league for 8 teams and uses NL and AL players.
Rosters are:C,1B,2B,3B,SS,CI,MI,IF,LF,CF,RF,U,U,SP,SP,SP,SP,RP,RP,P,P,P,BN,BN,BN,BN,BN,DL,DL
Scoring: run 1 ip 1
hit 1 w 10
1b 1 l -5
2b 2 cg 15
3b 3 so 15
hr 5 sv 6
rbi 1 k 1
sf 1
sb 3
cs -1
bb 1
k -1
e -1
There are 162 game maximums for position players and 1300 inning maximums for pitchers.
Roster changes are daily. Seems very shallow with redundant scoring.

Ill give you a response, load up on top tier pitchers

a complete game shutout is worth like 60 some points in that lame system

My opinion is that your league commissioner is going overboard with trying to customize the league. Things like having LF, CF and RF spots instead of simply OF just seems too complicated to me, especially when you add in all of those scoring categories. Of course, I understand that there are people who like their league settings to be really intricate; I'm just not one of those guys. I say keep it fairly simple, especially with the scoring cats.

my response to every points league question is this...find projections you like...put them in excel and calculate total points scored for each player

then use this as your ranking. simple and gets to the point

in points leagues you dont care about anything else except points scored. dont worry about steals...saves...blah blah blah. just points scored
