I'm in a dynasty keeper league (we keep 22 out of a 32 man roster). It's a points league (points for innings pitched (3), wins (10) and strikeouts (1) and negative points for walks (-1), runs (-1), and losses (-5). I'm debating an offer to trade Clay Buchholz for Madison Bumgarner -- simple question -- who will turn out to be more valuable in the long run?
There's a definite advantage being on the Red Sox (when it comes to wins) but that's really a minor factor... Will Bumgarner realize his velocity potential, or should we be concerned? WIll Buchholz finally prove to be the same pitcher who pitched the no hitter his first year out?
Who would you rather have?

I think I keep Bucholz...and not because of the win potential. Bumgarner wasnt really striking out a ton of hitters in AA last year. Bucholz is just ass good imo, has a no-hitter so he has proven he can compete (and dominate), and has the better team right now. The team being better could change but Boston has a great minor league system so I wouldn't bet on much of a drop from them.

To me it boils down to who you would prefer to have, b/c I don't think that one is really that much higher than the other.
For me, I would want Bumgarner strictly b/c I don't like the Red Sox, and would prefer to follow the Giants.
Go Hokies!

Personally, I like prospects that have actually shown me something. They are both extremely hyped guys. I'd go with Buckholz, not going on just his no-hitter but his great stretch last season. I like guys who've proven it in the majors and Buckholz has shown some great ML upside. Bumgarner could be a huge power pitcher with a large workload, but he has to show me something before I put him above Clay...thats just me.

Play it safe with Buchholz right now.
