Scoring?

Scoring?

Postby dream_017 » Thu Feb 25, 2010 10:13 am

OK, I have been talked into joining a fantasy baseball league. I've played fantasy football for years. Most of the people in the league it is their first time as well. I'm not very familiar with rules and what are the better set-ups. The commish is asking for a vote on the scorring for standings. The options are:
A - there are 10 categories and you get a win for each category per week(10 wins possible per week)
B - there are 10 categories and you get 1 win for the week (whoever wins the most categories)

So, what do you think is the better option? I'm thinking since it is my first time that option B would be better to stay competitive.

Red Sox? Really, Dream?

I like the first option better. I think it awards a team for being more competitive. That is, if you suck and lose all 10 cats, and another team loses 4 of 10 in option A they would be scored as 4-6 and 0-10, in B 0-1 each. While maybe not keeping the teams records closer, option A shows a truer gauge of how good or bad teams are.

I've never played with this style of scoring, but I think i agree with Mooch. Option number 1 would make things more competitive, and would require more careful attention to your team, which is what I think you should be looking for if you want a really enjoyable fantasy baseball experience.

Have fun!
