OK so some may have helped me in the past few rounds...I am up again in a two picks (pick #140 in a slow draft) and am looking for opinions on where to go next!! Note that closers are starting to go pretty fast (they score a ton in this league!!) ...do I still wait though? (see below how we count holds also)
12 Team POINTS H2H league (most points each week wins). - Pitching is weighted pretty heavy in this league with 10pts for wins, 5pts for quality starts, 15 pts per save,12 pts per hold, 1pt per K, etc. - Hitting favors hitters that don't strike out alot (-1pt per KO) and walk (1pt per BB) ...but fairly balanced in other areas with 4 pts for a HR, 2 pts per steal, etc.
Here is my team and what we start (the empty spots)...we have a bench for hitters only!! ...SO WHO SHOULD I GO WITH NEXT (I listed best available below)??? THANKS AND WHIR! C - 1B - Cabrera (keeper) 2B - Kinsler (keeper) SS - HRamirez (keeper) 3B - Beckham OF - Kemp (keeper) OF - Bruce OF - OF - DH - AGonzalez (keeper) U - Alex Gordon (minor league keeper) U - SP - Gallardo (keeper) SP - Kershaw (keeper) SP - Kazmir SP - SP - RP - Marmol RP - RP - RP -
Hmmm...Someone just took Bailey and that was where I was leaning!! Now leaning towards Rios? There are just too many SPs and no one really stands out to me (if Anderson was on a team with any offense at all it may be different). Garza, Sherzer, Baker and Floyd also seem ok picks also but I gotta believe one will be there next time I am up. No top reliable relievers leaves me passing there also... Span I like but he just doesnt do enough to give you much upside anymore right? ...and Rios scored almost as much as him in this league in his bad year last year. What do you guys think about Rios...he doesnt K much (good for this league) and because of that I gotta think his AVG will come back at least...is he an ok pick at #140?
Don't ever base a pitchers worth by run support. It's all luck. Trevor Cahill was 13th in run support, better then any NYY.
Yeah, I guess I really didn't mean it that way...run support is one thing but you gotta pitch and Anderson can definitely pitch so you're right in not basing worth on that...But I would rather have a pitcher on a team that wins! Look at Garza last year...pitched great but still was 8-12 and scored very little compared to alot of other pitchers on winning teams in my league. Of course you can't easily predict how much a team wins either. I guess my point really was that no one really stood out and being that there was a slew of decent pitchers that could score as much as Anderson and pitch just as well then why not wait on a pitcher. If I was looking at him as a keeper it may be different but I have Gallardo and Kershaw as pitcher keepers so...
OK everyone thanks for the help on that one!! I ended up going with Rios. I am up again soon (in 2 more picks)...and Ian Stewart, Baker, Span, Garza, Drew, and C Gonzalez just were drafted. I am looking at several players right now and here they are:
C - Suzuki, Montero OF - Borbon, Beltran, McLouth SP - Floyd, DiceK, Liriano, Scherzer, E Santana, B Anderson, Hudson RP - Wagner, Nunez, Hoffman, Qualls
I am thinking starting pitcher (and going with Anderson) but I don't want to miss out on the potential of Borbon with that speed and atop that lineup. How about Borbon then pick up a starter on the way back in like 17 picks? What do you think...too early for him at 150ish? THANKS AGAIN!!
Yeah, I was just looking over both their numbers...man the K rates in the minors are awesome (not to mention Scherzer's last year)! I think I may go Scherzer and hope Borbon falls...
