I'm in a keeper league thats having a prospect draft. I have the fifth pick in this draft. I'm thinking of taking Scott Kazmir. What do you guys think?
To me, it depends. Kazmire has the stuff to be considered a top 5 prospect but his frame worries me a little. Personally, I'm much more prone to taking a hitter before a pitcher in the minors. I'd probably go with Mauer, Weeks, Fielder, Upton, Morneau, Mathis, Marte, Rios, Crosby, and Reed before Kaz. But if you're into high risks, go for it. It's all speculation at this point.

well if you play in yahoo then a lot of those players are already in the database: Mauer, Weeks, Morneau, Rios, and Crosby.
i would say in general the top prospects not in yahoo would be:
-upton
-miller (though he has something wrong w/ his shoulder now)
-marte
-fielder
-young
-sizemore
-and then prolly kazmir due to his upside...right around greinke and hamels as far as pitchers go.
I'd go for a guy like Marte or Upton. Mauer is getting a lot of praise because of his defense and contact hitting. He won't do much in the way of power for a while. Marte should get a shot this year, I'd probably go with him. He's an amazing hitter who will be joining a great lineup sooner rather than later. Upton would also be a good chocie, as would Weeks. It'd be tough to pass on Mauer, but I don't think he'll be nearly as good as everybody thinks. And as for pitchers, there are tons. I'd wait until the second round to grab one.

How long can you wait for one of the prospects? Josh Barfield appears to be to 2B what Jenna is to porn. Seriously give him a thought.
Jackals, with all 18 managers returning, we should look into getting a propsect draft going. I'd be a huge supporter of it. It cuts only slightly into waivers, since guys like Barfield, Marte, Fielder, Kazmir, Hamels etc have only a slight chance of being called up this year. Now post the rosters so I can make some FA pickups!
Who is that? Rev? Pedro? With the Jenna comment I'd assume it's Pedro, but the Yankees ID makes me think Rev. Either way, I'll be getting the rosters put in soon.

No way i consider Kazmir at 5. AA had a good take. My top 10
c Mauer
ss Upton
2b Weeks
1b Fielder
2b Barfield
of Young
3b Marte
sp Greinke
sp Miller
sp Jackson
close
sp Hamels
c Mathis
I like getting infield from minors over pitching. Young pitchers have such high risk. If i took a pitcher, it would be Greinke.

Ahhhhhh, Ken. I always confuse you with Rev. And yeah I think a prospect draft would be a good idea. The only problem is a few guys have no idea about minor leaguers. I guess I could refer them to a few sites. Not this one though, there's hardly any useful information here......
